Google Ads is a well-known product that a large user base is familiar with. I was asked to update parts of the product to make it more accessible to new users.
challenge.
Creating an ad campaign involves multiple steps, and referencing videos and help articles is crucial to understanding the campaign's details. Users in research often expressed how overwhelmed they felt when trying to learn the product.
solution.
Multiple solutions were created. First, redesigning the end-to-end campaign process was a key task. I created a flow that was simpler, but not so radically different that legacy users would find it disruptive. The second goal was to integrate AI into the campaign creation process.
This button allowed new users to jump all the steps, a fast-track method to start publishing campaigns immediately. Users receive the campaign that AI suggests to them, along with an explanation of why it was presented. Users can then edit any details they want on a single page before publishing.

The 'Generate campaign' button ensures that a completely new user base will adopt Google Ads.
